Broken Clocks by Danielle Allen

This is a deeply moving story about love; an imperfect love. That hurt your feelings type of love.

I wasn’t going to write this review. Not because I didn’t like it but because I don’t like it when books get me in my feelings. Get me all mad and frustrated. Got me all annoyed. Got me messaging the author so I can process!! *This really happened!! Thank Danielle!* But if there’s one thing I learned, its that we really need to live life to the fullest.

Broken Clocks by Danielle Allen is a deeply moving story about love. Imperfect love. But more than just love, its about the timing of love just not being right, situations not being ideal and definitely not perfect. This story of Layla and William is actually really beautiful. From the moment that they met, it was kismet! They had that moment where you’re blown away by a person because its almost like you knew them in a past life *cue India Arie The Truth*. Their love is the truth. So wtf? Right? How can this perfect destiny love not be good timing? Cause that’s life.

Layla and William have developed a friendship after having ended their relationship. They broke up for the reason that many relationships end: one person can’t give the other what they want. And that takes real guts. Recognizing that you love someone enough to let them go is powerful. Layla realized that while she loves William, she’s not enough. And so instead of holding on to eventually have things fall apart, she makes the decision to end things to spare them both. Of course William doesn’t agree, but he also recognizes that she’s right. I hate it that she’s right (kinda)!

This is a powerful story. Layla and William have an overwhelming type of love. Their love is the type that you look at it and you’re like damn can someone love me like that?? But it was soo complicated! And the timing really wasn’t perfect at all. It was like, stuff would happen and you’d be like, WHY GOD WHY? Yes, that was me in my head. But was it true deep love? Absolutely. Overwhelming, deep, passionate love. That once in a lifetime type of love.

I really enjoyed their story. But like I shared, I was in my feelings. I’m sure if you read it you will be too! I highly recommend! But get ready to be hurt!! #NoReadRegrets!
