Hi I’m Ashley. I like to read books. I don’t know how many I’ve read, but I’m sure I’ve hit a thousand. Crazy. But if I really think about, I went to college. Had to read a lot of books there. And ever since I was a kid, I’ve had a heavily utilized library card. It was really until I owed $20+ in late fees that I started using my mom’s library card…This wasn’t my first $20+ late fee and I feel as an active user, I should’ve gotten a pass at least once! Damn!
My passion for reading started at a very young age. As an only child and a self-proclaimed (and Myers-Briggs confirmed) introvert books have always captured me. I tried writing when I was a kid, but I never got the bug for it like I feel I should have so I went for reading.
I’m sure you’re wondering if I was an English major, to which I respond with a strong “hell naw”. I like real stuff about life, adventure, romance, science fiction, self-help…English majors don’t read that! So one random day I was googling about how can I become a book reviewer. I like to read! I’m smart, I’m college educated, and I have a keen eye for good work! I ran across a post that said, if you want to become a book reviewer, like people send you their books and you provide your opinion, you should have a blog. I was like, great!! I love blogging! The reason I haven’t is because I haven’t had a topic to really blog about. Doing the typical, story of my life blogging doesn’t interest me anymore. I blogged about getting my doctorate, and once I got that, blog over!
When I saw the idea about blogging on the books I’ve read, I honestly felt like this is perfect for me. I read a lot of books. I read fast. and I’m constantly talking to people about the books I’m reading and suggesting books folks should read. So here I am. Blogging on one of my favorite things…books.
I specifically like romance and science fiction. But I don’t believe in limiting myself to genres. I read different stuff. So stay tuned!! Hope you read what I like! Comment and share your thoughts if you do! I’m excited to have others to engage with so if that’s you! Welcome.
